Oddball Comedy Is Coming to Tampa

Funny or Die and Holiday Inn Express are hitting the road this summer and taking the comics on tour. And they are getting their start in Tampa.

On August 8, the Oddball Comedy and Curiosity Festival is kicking off its tour at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheater.

Dozens of different comedians with join and drop off the tour as it travels around the country. The funny people making the trip to the Tampa show include:

  • Louis C.K.
  • Aziz Ansari
  • Marc Maron
  • Brent Morin
  • Hannibal Buress
  • Jeff Ross
  • Reggie Watts
  • Brody Stevens

The festival will feature two stages, side show performers, live music, and more.

Holiday Inn Express is the official “Stay Smart” Partner of the Oddball Festival. At all 21 Oddball Festival shows, the Holiday Inn Express brand will provide festival attendees special on-site experiences to be part of the Stay Smart campaign including: “Express Check-In ” and “Room with a View.”

The “Express Check-In” entrance which allows attendees to cut the long check-in lines and relax in a Holiday Inn Express branded lobby pre-show and with the chance to upgrade their ticket via “Express Instant Seat Upgrade.”

Attendees can also visit OddballFest.com to enter for a chance to win “Room With a View” tickets that give them access to a front-row viewing area with plush Holiday Inn Express branded seats and free food and drink.

We had the chance to talk to Jennifer Gribble, vice president of the Americas Holiday Inn Express brand at InterContinental Hotels Group about their involvement with the festival.

Why did Holiday Inn Express decide to partner with the Oddball Comedy Festival? 

The Holiday Inn Express® brand is synonymous with comedy, so we see this partnership with the Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival as a natural fit. The partnership allows the brand to engage directly with our target guest through a humorous platform that perfectly aligns with, and reinforces the brand’s personality.

Comedy is the perfect vehicle for the brand to engage with consumers as we know 88% of our target audience of “Smart Travelers” say that comedy is a genre they are interested in.

What is the message behind the tagline “Stay Smart”? How does it resonate with your target audience?

Stay Smart is a fun and humorous exaggeration of how smart it feels to stay in a Holiday Inn Express hotel. The Holiday Inn Express brand enables its guests to “Stay Smart” by providing the savvy and value-conscious traveler with the essentials they need to keep on moving.

The “Stay Smart” campaign is all about celebrating smart decisions that happen every day in a lighthearted way. Holiday Inn Express guests feel smarter by choosing to stay at our hotels.
