Heidi Fit’s Favorite Healthy Dunedin Spots

We here a lot about Tampa and more specifically “Soho” but with all the commotion coming to town next week even the die hard Tampa residents might want to consider heading west to some, in my opinion, best restaurants in town.

I’m a proud resident of the Dunedin Causeway and love how it’s centrally located to quaint  towns like Palm Harbor, Ozona, Tarpon Springs, and beautiful downtown Dunedin! I don’t eat out often but when I do it has to be good, clean and healthy. Here’s some of my favorite local spots for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and coffee.

Ohana Cafe of Ozona – Breakfast

“Healthy Fare with an Island Flair!” is the slogan Ohana Cafe of Ozona uses to describe their eclectic menu and atmosphere. Ohana Cafe tops my list for best breakfast in town. With a menu that serves only produce that is locally grown and organic. Antibiotic and hormone free meats and something for vegetarians, vegans, and those who are gluten free.

My favorite: organic coffee with coconut milk creamer and the organic whole grain oatmeal. And a hug from your waitress when you leave.

Kelly’s – Lunch

We head about 10 min south on Alt 19 to downtown Dunedin for lunch! “For just about…….anything” could not be more true of a statement for Kelly’s on main street. This fun atmosphere has a great outdoor dining area where they have just about anything for lunch. This is the spot for lunch with the girls, an afternoon date with your significant other or a quiet lunch to yourself.

My favorite: the brie sandwich.

The Eco Bean – Afternoon Coffee

Need a little afternoon pick me up? Head back up Alt 19 to Tarpon Springs where you’ll stumble upon The Eco Bean. “Proudly serving organic fair trade coffee and tea in groovy Tarpon Springs.” Organic, fair trade coffee and teas they will make it custom to you. And have every milk option you could think of. This is a great spot to read, write, study or just chat.

My favorite: Dirty Chi latte with almond milk and cinnamon!

The Living Room or Casa Tina’s

Back to main street in downtown Dunedin for dinner. I couldn’t choose between my 2 favorite places. The Living Room is the perfect date night spot. A sexy setting with dim lights and live music this tapas style restaurant has the freshest tasting food your taste buds could experience A great wine menu and servings meant to share I recommend it all. I’ve celebrated my last 2 birthdays and a New Year’s Eve here.

Casa Tina’s is another spot that I love. The atmosphere is buzzing with great decor and live hooping, aerialist and other dancing  acts there’s never a dull moment at Casa Tina’s. If you love Mexican this is the only place you should be eating.

Strachan’s – Dessert

If your familiar with the area you know the only place to have dessert is Strachan’s. Two locations on Alt 19 in downtown Dunedin and Palm Harbor, this is the place to satisfy your sweet tooth. Homemade ice cream, fudge and dessert on a stick there is something for everyone. Your probably thinking “I thought you said healthy?” my philosophy it’s good to enjoy foods you like before you derail yourself completely and end up with a spoon in the ice cream container at mid night. They even have puppy cones free with purchase!

All these restaurants are locally owned so your body will feel good eating these great foods a d you’ll be supporting our wonderful piece of paradise!
