Fall is just around the corner, and with every new season comes new trends. Some are worth the investment; others leave you wondering… how would I ever pull that off? Here are a few top trends you might see this fall and more importantly, how to wear them.
The Cropped Shirt
It’s back in tees, sweaters and tank tops. Exciting for those wanting to re-live the 90’s (and a bit daunting for those thinking no way), the cropped shirt is making a return. Luckily it has been updated and is perfect for a laid back look. The trick is to make sure you are wearing a high-waisted bottom — skirt, jeans or pants. Layer it. Throw it over a longer tee or wear it over your summer maxi dress for a new look that will make your existing wardrobe work double duty.
Lovely Lace
Pretty, feminine and delicate, lace is not just for bridal gowns anymore (or your Grandmother’s doilies). This fall, you’ll see it in rainbow colors in clothing and accessories alike. For only a small touch of the look, accessorize with lace shoes, handbags and jewelry. This trend is classic and timeless and can be easily incorporated into your current wardrobe.
Studs
Pyramid Stud earring ($29) stelladot.com/jessicalaurenStuds are everywhere. From bracelets and belts to tops and shoes, studs offer an edgy and fashionable look that is a perfect fit for Fall. There are easy ways for everyone to tastefully wear this trend. For a basic look, try a white blouse or tee with a studded collar, or if you’re feeling a little bit rebellious, try a studded leather jacket or blazer. Studded accessories when paired with an understated outfit are also a great way to get the look in a subtle way. A small stud earring, leather studded wrap bracelet, or flats dotted with studs are just enough paired with leggings or skinny jeans and a flowy blouse.
Leather
Faux leather top ($59) Zara.comChic and practical, leather is not just for handbags and shoes anymore. It’s one of the hottest trends for the Fall/Winter fashion season. It’s showing up in classic black, as well as several other colors, in forms such as jewelry, dresses, tops, leggings and coats. To look good in leather, one must follow just a few simple rules:
- You don’t want to go overboard with the look. Choose pieces with simple details and classic shapes.
- Leather itself is attention grabbing, make sure to not over accessorize.
- Denim and denim is not the best idea, the same goes with leather.
So take a fashion risk this fall, and pull off the new autumn trends by following these simple rules.
